Culture Ireland, partnering with Dublin Theatre Festival and Irish Theatre Institute, invites submissions from Irish artists/companies who wish to present information about newly created works to international delegates as part of this year’s International Theatre eXchange (ITX) during the Dublin Theatre Festival.

 

Successful applicants will be offered an 8-minute platform to introduce their projects to national and international delegates. This opportunity will take place on Friday 4^th October 2024.

 

The objectives of this initiative are:

• To provide a platform for Irish artists/producers to present and promote their work to international presenters.
• To create opportunities for Irish artists to build international touring networks for their work.
• To introduce international programmers to Irish artists and companies.

 

Participation in this initiative in previous years has resulted in substantial international opportunities for the artists/companies involved.

 

Qualifying Criteria:

 

Applications must meet the following criteria:

• The proposed work must be a professional production which has premiered over the past 18 months and which is now ready to tour internationally.
• Evidence of positive independent critical recognition must be available.
• High-quality moving image documentation of the work is essential.
• The applicant must be available for preparatory work in advance of the festival and to engage with international presenters at ITX.

 

Please note: Work presented as part of previous Dublin Theatre Festival programmes or previous Culture Ireland Pitching Sessions or work which has had a high profile presentation outside of Ireland will not be eligible for consideration. Also, productions that have featured as part of Culture Ireland’s Edinburgh Showcase will not be considered for this opportunity.

 

Assessment:

 

Applications will be assessed based on the following:

 

• Fulfilment of the qualifying criteria.
• The quality of the production in terms of performance, production values and content.
• The capacity of the artist/company to avail of touring opportunities arising from inclusion in the programme.
• Current programming trends in key international festivals and venues.

 

Selection will be made jointly by Culture Ireland, Dublin Theatre Festival and Irish Theatre Institute.
