Today, we are delighted to share details of the seven shows participating in this year’s Culture Ireland Edinburgh Showcase 2024.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2 – 26 August) continues to offer an important and unique platform for Irish theatre and dance artists to gain international media and audience recognition for their work and to develop their networks.
Sharon Barry, Director, Culture Ireland, commented: “More than ever, participation in the Edinburgh Fringe is a primary pathway to both global touring opportunities and engagement with new audiences. We look forward to working with these seven vibrant shows in maximising their potential from the Edinburgh experience.”
Following an open call earlier in 2024, the productions in this year’s programme are:
- In Two Minds by Joanne Ryan (Fishamble: The New Play Company) – 21 Performances at the Traverse Theatre (2 – 25 August)
- CRAWLER (Jessie Thompson) 9 Performances at Dance Base (2 – 11 August)
- HYPER (Ois O’Donoghue/Jaxbanded Theatre) 24 Performances at Summerhall (1 – 26 August)
- You’re Needy (sounds frustrating) (tasteinyourmouth) 88 Performances in an offsite venue in association with Summerhall (1 – 26 August)
- Impasse (Mufutau Yusuf) 12 Performances at Dance Base (13 – 25 August)
- The Weight of Shadow (Sasha Krohn) 22 Performances at Assembly Checkpoint (1 – 25 August)
- Chicken by Eva O’Connor & Hildegard Ryan (Sunday’s Child) 11 Performances at Summerhall (1 – 11 August)
A special Networking event is scheduled for Tuesday 20 August at Dance Base when Irish artists can engage directly with international programmers and presenters.
In addition, Culture Ireland is supporting appearances by Goitse, Lisa O’Neill and Irish Baroque Orchestra at the Edinburgh International Festival.
Also, in August, Culture Ireland also supports a number of Irish writers who will participate in the Edinburgh International Book Festival
